before my daughter was born a friend of mine had my mom convinced that I needed to do something about all my loose non-dreaded hair and roots that weren't locked up to my scalp. She was practically salivating to tidy up my dreads to look as manicured as hers....
she told her she wanted to help my hair finish up the last bit of locking it needed.
my mom pestered me....
ultimately this is when I told her I didn't want it...that I was nervous she could possible ruin my dreads when she tried working on them. I used race as an excuse. I told my mom that since my friend is African American she wasn't used to working on white girl hair...
If she messed up my hair is was messed up for good...no going back
I also sat down and did a really good separation on my dreads
It was after that my mom witnessed all the compliments I get on them....
So...SO glad I didn't go through with it....no one told me the dangers of crocheting before...
I was just told not to do it...
