So I've been dreading since September. I did the TnR method- i love my dreads, but i have so many hairs that aren't anywhere near dreading into my current dreads and it bothers me to wear it down (not because of apperance) so i've been wearing it up with a hair tie.I don't know if this is hindiring them from locking up faster. So i guess that is my first question- should i leave my hair down? i've been washing it like once a month because i just dont have the time to aloe it and twist it if i wash it often. would they lock up faster if i just wash em' and leave em be? is it needed to aloe them each time i wash them and if i do aloe them each time i wash them is that bad? is there any way that anyone would recommend to help speed up the process of having all these loose hairs. my husband seems to think that if i put beads around each dread that will help- i know crocheing them is bad and what not... also i know that it depends on each person's hair, but what is the average time it takes to completly dread- i see some beautiful pictures of peoples dread locks on this site and i can't wait for mine to be mature. i also have some dandruff and i guess it's probably because i don't wash very often and my scalp isn't used to that, but each time i wash with baking soda it seems to leave a layer on my scalp and i dont want to scratch at it too much to get it off- i cant afford oils and a lot to maintain them which is why i actually did them and want to continue doing them with as little maintaince as possible with out looking like a creap. does anyone have any useful tips, or ideas? any help will be greatly appricated.
