Hey all!Just found this site and all your wisdom. I just washed yesterday with a non residue (supposedly) shampoo and have been using locking gel on my 2 month old dreads. I hate the stiffness the gel seems to leave and am dying to do a nice baking soda wash with acv rinse and get my dreads naturally nice and soft and healthy looking. Should I wait a few days to give them rest since they're still so new or go for the wash and free them of this crap thats making them all sticky and stiff? For the record:i have pretty fine straight hair, dreads were started with backcombing. I palm roll to keep them job friendly. I'd say most of them are securely knotting nicely, but the tips are of course loose and there are several loose spots throughout.

Hey there..Welcome to the site..:)I have used Knottyboy tightening gel once or twice in my early dread days and I know waht you mean?I suggest you wash do the baking soda/acv rinse whenever you feel like since it is very gentle of baby dreads...you will see improvement immediately...if your shampoo is non residue "supposedly" you can skip it entirely and switch to baking soda wash...palmrolling may cause more loose hair so avoid any strenous activity when it comes to dreads...tips being loose are normal and its actually good cz it allows water to drain faster..wear a wooltam..that can speed up the dreading process as well...hope to see some babylocks pictures soon...:D

I'd wash asap. The longer it's in the hair it'll be harder to remove.I agree with SE, no palm rolling! For job friendliness, I've been reading to keep the frizzies away, get an aloe plant, break a leaf and use the gel from that...that is after all that gunk is out, hehe. Also, for the loose parts, add a bead (but be sure to move it around every week) to help them form and from what I've been reading in the discussions it's best that the tips are loose. They'll eventually dread on their own, but blunting, crotching, rolling etc. definitely not healthy and may not let them drain water properly.Goodluck!
