section sizes

I fully understand that one inch is the magic dread size number, not to over 2 inches ever, and that 1cm or less is at risk of breaking off. A lot of my sections are really skinny horizontally (under 1cm) and really long vertically (1in or 1.5in+). The sections don't seem to have too much hair in them but was wondering if they should be smaller than an inch still?

Good question. The perfect shape would be 1 X 1 square... (although SE says the natural shape is more of a teardrop), but I've wondered this also. Some of mine are like narrower than 1 inch but longer than 1 inch. I'm looking forward to an answer on this also :)
