Dreadlock shampoo?

Alright, so I am a moron. It was only after my dreadshampoo order arrived that I realised that the locking gel contains soy, which I am allergic too! My own fault for being too excited about ordering some that I didn't check! Grr.

Unfortunately, due to customs, (I live in the UK), I was charged a lot extra for my order, AND received a damaged bottle of shampoo :( the buggers. Thankfully I can use the shampoo, but I have just discovered the below products and wondered if these will be ok to use in the future? Sadly I am struggling a bit financially, and as much as I would love to continue ordering from Vicki, it doesn't look like I will be able too, unless I finally find gold at the end of the rainbow!

Also, can anyone recommend an alternative to the locking gel? I'm not even sure if I will like putting it in my hair, but I wanted to try it :) x

hey fimbul,

The BS and ACV wash dont seem to work to well in our water overhere, so i tend to switch between using the Lush solid shampoo bar called seanik. I find it works great but its does contain a small amount of SLS which isnt the healthiest ingredient ever but its in all standard shampoos and soaps.

The best on I have found here is called Faith in Nature Tea tree again it does have , I dulite a usual shampoo amount into a 1ltr jug and apply direct to the scalp.

Heres the links to ingredients

Hope that helps

Hi Christina :)

Thank you for replying! I've actually been using the Lush squeaky green bar along with the BS, but I've found it makes the dandruff quite bad (eeew). I used to use the Faith in Nature Chocolate shampoo, but I was worried about the ammonium laureth sulphate! It seem to be impossible to avoid in the UK!

Do you find the Faith in Nature good for locking up?

Hi SE, I thought they might be, on closer look I noticed the word "moisturizing" used quite a lot. I am thinking of making my own liquid shampoo instead, with raw coconut/sunflower based castille soap, and essential oils/avocado oil.
