Salt Straightening Hair?

Recently I've started using salted water for my dreadlocks. I spray it a little bit (not too much) on my hair and after 2 hours I wash my hair as I would normally. The thing is that when I use salted water my hair (at least when it's wet) it gets a lot a lot more straight, while it used to be a lot more wavy/curly when wet. Is this normal? Could this interfere with my dreadlocks' progress? Thanks!

i have this same problem. i dont get it why it makes mine straighter, when everyone says it makes their hairwavier.

I'm using the salt I use for my food. It says "natural sea iodized salt".

Ok, I'll try to find a salt which is not iodized and see how it works out.

Thanks for the suggestions! I've been growing my dreads for 4 months. I didn't expect nothing extraordinary from the salted water, but I found it strange because it was straighter than usual. I just don't want it to break my dreadlocks or anything.

over use is more likely to cause that from over drying

the sea alt sprays or soaks arent necasary at all but do help with making them tighten

if u can just get to the beach every so often thats plenty enough they will love it..

if u cant u dont need it..

If I'm overusing, about how much should I use then? Also, I take care and try to spray only the hair and not the scalp.
