True, life itself is a journey, but there are different aspects in your life, and because growing your hair into dreads takes a while, it's seen as a journey more than just..."getting them". I think it's because journey implies gradual improvement and patience. Not to mention, to a lot of people, it becomes a spiritual journey as well.

We have to grow them like living things. All life is a journey. Ergo, dreads are a journey.

A journey within a journey. Like happiness, parenthood, spirituality, gaining skills, art, etc...

This topic could get pretty philosophical depending on your viewpoints regarding dreads. For some it's just hair and calling it a journey seems strange. For others it's spiritual. And for the rest it's somewhere in between or something else altogether.

For me personally it is many things but as far as journeying goes my dreads are therapy. I hope to grow as a person as they grow into real dreads. As they evolve I hope to evolve.

Neither my mental health nor my dreads have an instant fix. Both are a lengthy journey with no real destination. Just an expectation of change and discovery.
