Hi! Question...

Hey everyone. I thought I'd kinda introduce myself. I'm on day 2 of the journey. I've got pretty fine hair, which is more on the thinner side as well, but not extremely thin or anything. The length is about down to my nipples. I'm really looking forward to this whole process... I believe it's something I need to do. I don't have any previous experience with any form of dreads or anything... I've gotten most of my info from this site in just the past few days. So, if any of you have some advice about starting out, especially advice or experience with my kind of hair type, I'd love to hear it! The only thing I'll be doing is separating... other than that, I'm just letting it go. It's gonna be great. Like I said, I'm on day 2 and my main question right now is... how often should I be separating? My hair forms pretty big, gnarly mats very easily (especially underneath, near the base of my skull)... should I be separating these already? And if so, what general size should the separations be? Or should I just leave them for a while?

Oh, and I'll be washing with the baking soda and acv method. I've actually been washing my hair like that for quite some time, before I even thought about letting my hair dread.

There's a post called "top secret" that's got some good info for starters.

As for separating, I'd recommend ever 2-3 washes. That's about once a week. When you separate, just grab two locks and pull them apart till they stop. This separate them at the base too.

They should be anywhere from nickle to quarter size unless you really want super super fat locks. some people make them 1-2 inches, but realize that your wrist is 2 inches wide. Your locks would end up being about that thick.

I like them like that, but it's not for everyone, and the thicker they are, the harder and longer it takes to dry
