Is root rubbing really that bad?

So im a little over 9 months in and I had some roots that werent very knotty, so just for the hell of it I decided to try just a little root rubbing. Nothing too major, and I was very gentle, and it actually worked quite nicley. And it got me wondering, if root rubbing is really that bad? Now when I say root rubbing, I mean just a little bit of it. Enough to just encourage the hair to start knotting, and thats it. I feel like a very small amount of root rubbing when needed might encourage new groth hair to knot up

What do you guys think?

Thanks!

the roots are the anchor of the dreads they need to be strongest

a lil might nit do devastating dammage but it s really not worth it the roots will take care of themsselves and really should not be any tighter then they are for the stage theyre in betweeen months 8 and 13 in general is when they tighten up

your right at the beginning of the stage where they tighten on their own

your better off leaving hem be

yeah plus it becomes a habit like biting your nails or something a little bit will turn into your hands always being in your hair.
