I would recommend removing the wax... it just slows the process.

If you read some of the wax info links at the top of the page there are different ways. I am not exactly sure how to, but I know there's some really good info on why NOT to use wax and how to get rid of it. This whole site has GREAT info on everything you need to know about dreadlocks.

1 several are too big 2 and most important u never ever ever want wax in your dreads so u are best off combing them out removeing all traces of wax and starting over better to use twist and rip too since backcombing already caused enough damagebut u must get that wax out or they never will dread

i'm with SE on this one. some of those are huge! you don't look like you have very thick hair so i would just comb it out and get that yucky wax out of there. then do smaller sections and backcomb or t&r to your hearts content.

well just throwing this out there but ya are aware that backcomb and tnr are not nesacary as loong as theres no wax in it it will dread naturaly by doing nothing
and ya do seem to have relatively good hair for thst
just throwin it out there cause so many dont realize its an option or since u waxed u proble believe the wax pushers lies that it takes forever and always looks bad (more then 1/2 the dreads here are natural i tyhink or very close to 1/2)
(but every single 1 who waxed regreted it and are trying to recover or started over)

Just want to add, if you do decide to comb out and start again wax-free, you may notice a bit of hair combing out, this is just the hair that would have shed if the wax wasn't holding it in, as well as probably some damaged hair from the backcombing, but do not fret. Just try to remove as much wax as you can first, then condition and try to be gentle when combing out, start at the tips combing down and work your way up to the root. It is a good idea to be sure all the wax is out before starting again. There are many helpful tips and people here for you!
