Will wearing a hat (not wool) speed up or slow down the dreading process?

Ok so I have a hat that isn't wool and I wear it when I sleep and when I am in my house and when I go outside, but I take it off when I am in school (8:00 to 3:00) so will that stop the natural dreading process???

I wash with baking soda and water btw

As long as the hat is not tight it won't stop the dreading process. Tight hats will keep your dreads from moving. You want movement so that your hair can form knots.

Wool is better....wool hats really encourage knots!

It is also important to have your hair down. It needs to swing and move so it is a good thing that you don't wear the hat during the day!
