So a very dear friend of mine is getting married in a few months... here's the catch, it's on Halloween (Or Samhain for us pagan folks)! So instead of a traditional wedding, she's throwing more of an elaborate costume party with a wedding meshed into the festivities. Here's the problem, I want to show off my dreads in my costume, but don't know what to go as! My mate and I would like to go as some form of pair, but aren't sure where to go as far as the costume is concerned. We've thought of Medusa and Perseus (hard to pull off, but it would be fun to wind my dreads in craft wire and adorn myself with snakes!), and I thought about trying Mother Nature and Father Time, but I'm not sure that he's okay with the 'aged' look (lol). So fellow dreadies, any ideas? I'd kinda like to keep it myth based, but am open to all ideas!

Medusa is a good one. The Corpse Bride is an option, but it's not so much a mythical creature. A cavewoman is always a good choice.
Really love the corpse bride idea... I'm a HUGE Tim Burton fan... and I think the irony of wearing a tattered wedding dress to a wedding is fantastic.Keep those ideas coming! Alicia Burnit said:

Just as a finalizer here, I've decided on the costumes that my love and I will be wearing. We're going as Pygmalion and Galatea. I'll give a brief summary for those of you who don't know the myth. The myth goes that there was once a man who carved ivory and who detested women. One day he carved a statue (from ivory of course) of his idea of an ideal woman, and was completely smitten with her. He spoiled the statue, as if she were living. Then at a festival, he begged the goddess Aphrodite for her blessing; to send him the woman of his dreams. When he returned to his home, he began his ritual for spoiling is ivory love, and when he bent to kiss her, he found that she was no longer a statue, but a real woman. They quickly fell in love and were married.I figure, what better costume for a couple in love to attend a wedding as? Now I just have to find the costumes themselves, or order them online... I'm hoping the party city opens up their costume area before too long...
