Hi i am more than concerned after reading about the terrible experiences of dreads breaking, falling out because of dread wax. Mine are medium to small in sizeand i can't feel anymore wax in them. But is there wax caked on the inside? i never used alot but i did use a hair dryer as recommended to "melt the wax into the dread for best results"Am i totally screwed? i would hate to start over i really have a great bond with my dreads. the ones on the top of my head still stick up alot and look crazy in the morning. is this becasue i started with the wax method? everyone i have seen on this site with nice dreads lay so nice and flat. i have very curly knotty thick italian hair and iot has wanted tp dread all along! when i was about ten i never cared about my hair and i had to be a flower girl at my aunts wedding and my dad went to come my hair and found numerous clumps of dreads. he cut them out and i looked so silly...shoulda statred them then.At this point i have about fifty dreads and most of them feel really reaaalllyyy tight and hard. i am not sure i could comb them out even if i wanted to. Any advice??

wow this site is amazing! i can't believe how quickly you responded! I statred to get the feeling that hard wasn't normal when i came across a very nice afro american man in a gas station. he let me feel his 7 year old dreads and they were just like you said! soft and spongey! he asked me if i had been using wax (perhaps he could tell) and told me he doesn't believe in that method, he used lime juice cuz its sticky. what an amazing chain of events first him, now this site and i can save my dreads! i am more than willing to donate my head just give me some infolove, roothie

just wash your hair with the dreadhead shampoo, lots of heat, and use a hair dryer.that will remove wax within a few washes
