Alright first I'll tell you the story and I'll make it short...this is for the new members who don't know about my journey. Here goes...SO, I have wanted dreads for as long as I can remember but I read that the best/only way to dread was by using wax and doing all this alien type crotchet+backcomb+fiddly doodle+fizbop crap to your hair and I just really wasn't into that. I like natural things and I didn't want dreads if my hair couldn't do it naturally. So I had my head shaved and I was really happy with that because it let me just be me. I didn't have to worry about how my hair was looking anymore. I did this for about three and a half years until it hit me that I wanted dreads really, really badly because they were so different and unique from other hair. They're nothing like regular hair and I loved that about em. So I did some more research and found this website. At first, after talking with SE I was going to do T&R or braids but then it just hit me...GO NATURAL. So I have been going natural ever since. Anyways...I'm super excited and happy because recently I found that I have a few BABY DREADS! =D My hair is only three inches long and it's starting to dread in the back. Now I've thought that I was getting dreads before but they kept falling apart but a few days ago I went into the bathroom to wash my face and I saw a dread sticking out from behind my neck...haha, so awesome. I gently pulled on it and I could tell that it wasn't definitely dreaded together because it didn't try to split in half or come apart, I could just tell that it was a dread. Then I gently pulled on the tip of another "dread" that normally comes together and falls apart over and over again and it also feels like a dread. I've washed only once since then but they're still there looking like they're there to stay. Tomorrow I'm going swimming in the lake, I have no doubt that they'll still be there afterwords. I don't know the exact number that I have but I'm thinking somewhere between 2-8. =D Just thought I'd share! Thanks for reading, guy's! I'm super excited. Oh, and it took ALMOST six months to grow three inches of hair and finally have some progress but I love it! Thanks, SE!

lol! :P I wouldn't change a thing. I love the whole transition from nearly bald to lions mane. I wouldn't do it any other way. It's one hell of an experience. Right now my goal is a whole head of dreads by January, that is what I'm hoping for at least...after that the goal will be mature dreads, that may take another year or so and then the goal will change to shoulder length locks! :P I see that coming around in five years or so! Ha. Then I'll go for waist length locks! =D Maybe ten or twelve years for that one! :P

Patience poster boy... I like that I'm feelin plenty of respect for your patience GG. I wish I had started totally natural rather than tnr but there's no way I would have waited so long once my decision to finally dread was made. Kudos!!

OH but I do have a question. I'm not too worried about it but I was wondering when you guy's would recommend that start separating? My hair is so short that I don't know how to. I can't really see any connecting hairs because there is still so much undreaded hair and I can't see the back of my head so I'm wondering how I should go about it. I think I am just going to let em be for a few more months before starting to separate but I was just curious about what you guy's think. I might even wait until I have a full head of dreads. I don't think any congos will start happening for a while...I just have a feeling about that. So what do ya'll think?
