it varriesyou said u got your dreads 2 weeks ago, 1st off this is very inacurate languageyou must mean either you backcombed your hair or twist and rippedor something other then natural dreading\if you used wax or anny dread products like that your progress will be very slow, or not at all even if overusedbut ok to answer the questionif backcombed without wax or rubberbands then the hair will be bnackcombed hair a few weeks at least tll it starts to actualy dreadthius is tyhe baby lock stage, which typicaly naturaly dreads and backcombed hair reaches this stage at nearly the same timebaby locks slowly enter a rebelios teen aged stage where they become loopyt lumpy and go wild rebelling against your will, this is where dreads gain theyree own personalites, which you can be the strict parent and force them to behave like you think they should, or you can nurture them to become what they want to bethis is usualy abnywhere from a few months to a yearby a year or 2 they are reaching maturity..they st\ill change alot but less drasticlyif you used wax however it reduces movem, ent and glues hair into a stickly stiff mess that will take much longer to go from backcombed to dreads if it ever doesno matter what these are generalities it always takes as long as it takes and many factors can change the relative times

i got my dreads the backcomb method and used bees wax, i hated the wax and tried to get it out the first few days, but it never fully came out, right now the wax is fully out, and my dreads are starting to get thicker (which i like). i can tell that my dreads are started to knot up and i am just slowly waiting for knot to catch all the other hairs. my hair is slightly curly and thick. i shower about every third day. do u have any tips to increase the locking process, or does all take about the same time?

read my wax removal thread wax is extremely hard to remove and many find they never fully get iit outid recomend doing the wax removal at least once even if you think its all gonethe only things that really help speed it up is a dip in the ocean or spray with sea salt solutiojn (not table salt use sea salt or kosher salt)wool tams help as wellif they start to unravel dont re-backcomb and if u got rubber bands in be sure to take them outthey can cause real problems realo fasst

I think SE has already answered your question very nicely and I really cant think of anything else to add.. Except my own experience. Mine are 2 months old, and entering the rebellious stage- they are frizzing out, and lumping and looping in places and curling too.. Its weird, but I love em! Takes time..
