new dreads

i started dreading my hair for about a week now. i use jamaican mango and lime locking gel and i just wanna know if my dreads should look like this or if i’m doing something wrong. thanks in advance.

wash out the gel! if it holds it prevents dreading

how are you starting them, the hair may need  lil more length

my bad, i meant to say locking gel. and i started them by using the sponge method. apparently it was the best/easiest way to start dreads. do you know any other gels or substances i could use?

none! just a shampoo  www.dreadlockshampoo.com being the best

the sponge is a rediculous thing.. your hair will dread if you just wash, ad leave it alone.

or you can twist and rip.. but thats unnesacary

you want nothing in your hair at all just clean hair

your african american?  if so youd want the bar shampoos from that site not liquid if yur not, then the liquid will make t dread faster

you want the hair to be free to move, tangle, and knot.  so nothing that hold hair in place! no gels, no gunks, nothing.

just clean hair free of residues (gel is residue by definition!)

thank you. most people suggested i use locking gel and and a sponge because it would be more simple. i am afro mexican and i will try that method.

people recomend all sorts of silly things claiing it makes it easy

nothings easier then nothing and nothing is all that needs to be done

if your hairs not dry like african try the liquid, if it is dry, then use the bars

so, these are the result of nothing but going camping for a couple weeks

dreading can happen without even trying to dread, it is so easy that you don't have to try to do it at all
