hair self-consciousness

Hi there! 
I used to post on this site when I was a teenager but I had to take my dreadlocks out. Now they are back and I am back.  
My dreadlocks are only about 2 - 3 months old, but I am such a self conscious person... Some days I get so down because of how the back of my hair looks.
I was always under the impression that my hair was just not suited for dreadlocks, because when I tried to do it myself I couldn't section it properly and it always showed way too much scalp for my liking. However, my boyfriend sectioned these for me and they are the nicest ones I have ever managed to get.
They are done with twist and rip at first, and then I have left them to do their own thing, only washing and seperating. 

I know a lot of people post questions like this, but I feel like mine is so icky looking.

Granted these photos are taken in the bathroom in the bright lights, so I may have made it look worse than it is. But, I just absolutely hate the 'gappyness' of my dreadlocks at the back. They always seem so far apart and just way too much scalp showing. I wish it looked nice and full like a lot of pictures I see online... 
I'll attach the photos. 

Will they get thicker and fill in? Will you always be able to see this much scalp in the light?

thesections look rathrr big.. not huge  but big and possibly not  what your hair type wanted. it should improve yes .. but in all honesty it would have turned out beter if yu never sectioned at all and let it section itself, for every 1 thicker 1  the size you have  yod have 5 or more thinner ones filling in every gap.. random sections with a wider rannge of sizes blends more naturally

do you have any photos of old set? what name were u using as a teen ..i kinda think i remember you? ..minds blanking on 1st name but last started with m.. mar something/

i'd like to compare the hair condition ..also 1 without dreads

i think its a lil on the thinner side but pretty curly?

how old are they  they will change alot  thicken alot new dreads  will appear  outta nowhere ..  its fine just if youd come back sooner i would have recommended not sectioning at all just let it section itself

I don't remember the name I went under on here when I was a teen, but I will try to find a picture of my old dreadlocks. It was sectioned very badly back then though  
My hair is on the thin side and slightly curly yes. 
I've had dreads for almost three months now so they are in their baby stages, I just get so critical of myself and go through the "oh god what have I done" stage a lot. 

I will attach a photo of my hair without the dreads, and some photos of it being sectioned. 

Here is a photo without dreads, and a few photos of how it was sectioned. (Don't worry, we removed the elastics)  

Here are some photos of the back of my hair taken today in the grocery store. I wanted to get a few in a less harsh light than the one in my bathroom, to see how it looks in everyday life. 

1,whoa your gorgeous! im not a fan of makeup at al but you got a  dramatic style thats cool

ok back to  dreads  hey look good they will sort them selves out and be gorgeous  the sections maybe a lil big for your hair type but probly wont matter  you will have thick dreads ..it probably would have been better naturally sectioned.. if there were 3 or 4 lil thin ones betteen each dread u can see how it would look less gappy

i think they will be glorious in a few months ..

yu could if  you want to ..take out 2 or 3 of the bigger ones in any problem area  and let m restart thinner ..instead of 30 dreads if u had 70  you'd have alot more filling in ...know what i mean?

i like that some of the community members pretty much grew up here haha . i hope some of the kids ho were like 6 when they started dreading still are..and come back someday too
