Greetings from the Caribbean!

Hey all, thought it was time to make an account. I’ve been creeping around here for a while now and I started my lock journey about 7 months ago with the twist and rip method along with some crochet. I then come to find out crochet isn’t the best so I just never did it again and have let my dreads be since then. I have been using a coconut based Castile liquid soap along with baking soda and acv washes ever now and again. Not too often. I was wondering if I can get some insight on how its going for me.

Like I said I haven’t done anything to them since I started them 7 months ago which was twist and rip and some crochet. Now I just try to separate them when I finish washing them so they don’t Congo.

They are kinda loose like the last 4 inches at the tips and the two dreads I have at the front hairline area are very loose and don’t want to get into the existing dreads  

any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

stop using the baking soda and acv! way too harsh and will slowly destroy your hair!

i highly recommend www.dreadlockshampoo.com liquid till mature then bar unless the crochets still tight and stiff

i see u still got a lil crochet recovery to go ut they are doing well

Thanks for the advice @soaring-eagle i have only done the baking soda and acv twice in the 7 months ive been dreading but i will stop if it is harmful like you stated also like i mentioned i am currently using a coconut based liquid castille soap called "solo coquette" ingredients are minimal and readable so i guess its pretty good haha its also residue free thats what i was looking for. Since im currently living in the dominican republic thats the best i could find locally.

Can you tell by the ingredients? Water, organic virgin coconut oil, Castor oil, organic cocoa butter, potassium hydroxide, vitamin e, lavender oil, citric and boric acid, and cellulose. Seems like lots of oil but you know it’s saponified. Whenever I wash my dreads with it it makes them feel pretty squeaky clean and not oily at all.

hard to be sure but seems like it would be

though some light conditioning to loosen the crochets not bad  at 1st..

if they continue getting looser and looser you may wanna switch..but for now loosenings a good thing
