To start or to wait
I'm curious if I were to start naturally letting my hair dread, in roughly 6 weeks how chaotic will my hair be? I know everyone's hair is different but I'd love to hear others experiences with natural dreads. Also if I were to use a straightener on my month old natural occurring dreads would it impeded the the process much? If not I might just straight my hair and throw it into a ponytail, so it "looks presentable" for court.

since its under 6 inches it wont look much different in a few weeks
and the court doesnt, and cant care about appearance or hair, only the legtter of the law, you rolled through a stop sign.. why are you bothering to go to court at all? your guilty, you did it, pay your fine and let yourf hair dread
now if you didnt do it, if your not guilty and you can prove kt t6hen your proofs on your side so be prepared with the evidence and let that speak for itself dont worry about yourhair
if the judge even dares mention it just smile and say i made a vow to myself to let my hair dread its something i wantedd since i was a kid and now im committing to it
chances are if he saus anything more ]it will just be 'thats cool'
its trafic court as long as you dont go in falling over drunk with puke all ovver your shirt it wont matter how you look

To be honest I think it's a waste of time, but my parents are pressuring me to go to court. Seeing as I am currently living under their roof and under their insurance(even though I pay my own way) I decided to respect their wishes instead of arguing. Also no offense taken! I'm excited to start and have the real thing. It's time to retire the hats

i think its silly to go to court when its an open and shut case and they have dashboard cams ..all your doing is adding court costs to the fines doubling what you have to pay
i mean if there is anything defendable on your part ..at all then yea by all means fight it
but if you went through a stop sign without completely stopping....and you know you did ..its alot easier to just pay the ticket and move on be more careful from now on
but..if there was any indication the cop was just out to harrass you or meet a quota ..and you feel you came to a complee stop etc..
just be aware that they have video evidence ..wich can go in your favor if your in the right..or against you if your in the wrong
and if it goes against you, then you have the fines, and the court fees wich can be higher then the fines

I totally agree with Soaring-Eagle! There is nothing you could win in this case going to court. You will have to pay even more money going to court instead of saving money not to go. Is that the lesson your parents want you to learn by sending you? I don't understand it. If I would be you, i would argue with them, because their requirement makes no sense at all in my eyes.
I wish you good luck and i hope you make the right descision!

First off, you don't need to wait. At worst your hair will look a little messy.
Second, my ex had to go to the courthouse to deal with a ticket years ago, and when he got there, he never had to go before a judge. They just had him pay the fine at the front desk area. It ended up getting lowered a fraction of what the ticket fine said. So, my opinion is...you should go. It's highly unlikely they'll actually have you see a judge!
