Hair not Dreading

Howdy.  I haven't posted here in years, forgot my old sign on so this is technically my first post.  :)  I mostly lurk.

I posted about 4 1/2 yrs or so ago as I was one of the ones that had my dreads done for me and had been taught all the wrong things and used wax the first few months as well as let someone "fix" my roots a couple times by crocheting.  That was all within about 3-4 months or so after starting my dreads.  I then found this site and took all the tips at getting the wax out which was great.  I quit maintaining them and let them do their own thing, other than occassionally separating some.  I kept them for 4 years but my dreads never healed, my roots kept twisting and I was afraid of eventual baldness so I cut them and combed them out about 7 or 8 months ago.  I only did it because I want to start them over and start fresh.

So anyways, on to my new journey:

I haven't combed my hair in about 6 or 7 months, I was only using the BS/ACV method for cleaning, about 2-3 times a week, usually twice.  I keep my hair down all the time.  I was getting some clumpyness that looked as though they could eventually turn to dreads but as soon as I'd clean my hair they'd be gone.  I read on here to try the Lockin' Up Liquid Shampoo from the shop which I bought along with the  Himalayan Pink Sea Salt Spray.   Sadly what teeny amount of progress I had before was washed away after using the shampoo and has not come back.  My hair feels super soft and though I don't dare I know I can put a comb through it without much fuss.  :(   I did what I believe SE suggested and just used the shampoo on my roots and let it rinse down through my hair instead of scrubbing it in.  I use the sea salt spray almost everyday.  Not blaming those products at all, I would have loved them back when I still had dreads, smells amazing!!

Right now I'm at a loss and am getting a little sad at not having any progress whatsoever.  My hair used to dread up like crazy when I was a teen, I have thick, coarse hair and there should be some progress at this point.  Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated!  I'm assuming I shouldn't be using this shampoo anymore, but am not sure what to use to clean my hair.  Right now I'd say my hair is at stage 1, all progress lost and can be combed easilly.  I'm hoping there's someone out there that has similar hair issues that can help.

how long is the hair

are you towel or air drying

my guess is if you cut it its still somewhat short so taking biotin daily for months wilkl tripple or atleast double the growth speed

when you do the bs /acv  how do u do it how much of each in how much water in what order leaving 3each in for how long etc

It's past my shoulder, about armpit length in front.  I've been taking biotin everyday for about 5 years.  Biotin rocks!  I pat it down with the towel till it doesn't drip and I air dry.  I used to follow your directions back in the day for the BS/ACV ratio and have been winging it for the last few years, it's about 1/2 a cup bs to about 6 cups of water.  I usually pour it over my hair and do my best to keep it on for about 20 minutes though I probablly really leave it for about  10-15 minutes most days.  I do 1 capfull of ACV in about 6 cups of water, usually add a few drops of some essential oils like rosemary, tee tree and sometimes sandalwood.  I usually only leave that in my hair for as long as it takes to wash my face, maybe about a minute or 2, and rinse it out.

That's been my hair washing ritual for a good 4-5 years with the ocassional bar shampoo here and there.  Haven't used my bar shampoo since combing out my dreads though as it was too conditioning.

stop the patting it down with the towel  just shake it out and go

also rinse the acv imediately afterr pouring it on

the bs ratio is slightly off but thats ok it should be 1/2 cup to 5 cups but that shoukldt affectthe process

ps long term use iof bs/acv may weaken hair)

so try those 2 ssuggestions, stop using the towe,l completely anbdrince out the acv right away

or continue tryinbg the shampoo but withouttyhe towel

Perhaps my hair is just rebelling, I've also noticed that it hasn't been growing much despite taking biotin daily...it used to grow fast, now it grows super slow.   It's just odd

I'll try to go towel-less, when I pat it dry I only gently pat the ends to get it to stop dripping, I don't rub it or pat all my hair down.

I read that before about using bs/acv all the time which is why I used to switch it up with my bar shampoo and recently got the liquid shampoo.  I haven't used the bs/acv in about a month, maybe I'll switch it to every other washing.  The shampoo just really seems to condition my hair too much, it is super soft right now and I used it last night, just barely used any and rinsed it off right away to see if it'd help.  I'm kind of afraid to use it anymore until I get some good progress.  And I'll try just rinsing the acv out right away.

still though I would think at about 7 months with this routine there would be something...it seems like I need a bigger change to get anything to happen.

i use the bars normaly then if im getting too much loose hair iuse the liquid onlyonce and  boom a dozen new dreads form and all the roots try to congo together   the luquid shoudnt condition it should   dry it out maybe use a lil more  i mean if u barely used any use what youd normaly use  i use  well i cany see what i use but roughly a tasblespoon or lil more per eachquwarter of my head (u do mine in quadrants beard 1st then front right front lkeft back right back left)

tho0ugh sometimes it seems like i might use a liltoo much  since i cant see what im doing and takes a lil extra rinsing

if your not using much at all its possible its not ablpe to sdo what it needs to do

i dunno just a guess
