You see that no one you know has dreads and some people are still asking you how long it will take. Then, you start to feel down that it's taking too long. And then, you see someone with dreads and you suddenly feel hope.
TBH I love that feeling of relief

, lol yeah man all the time, my cousin and I were getting lunch somewhere and a lady next to us had these crazy natural locks, with a few that were very long, she had them for about 10years,eventually you get to the point where people stop asking that question, i got it all the time, then it's replaced by "Oh you have locks (!) (?) or (!?) I've never seen a (insert ethnicity here) with themthen again all that is subject to change, cause i live in a kinda small town, how are yours coming along?

Mine are doing great. It's just the roots that have to knot up.I still get the same people asking me the same questions and saying the same "Those aren't real dreads. Go to a salon.", daily. I notice it's always the ghetto kids that think I don't have dreads because it doesn't look like Lil Wayne's. Or they always think I'm doing this as some kind of bizarre "tribute" to him. It bothers me a bit, but I have this site to cheer me up. Or sometimes I go to a mall and see 1 or 2 dreadies there. Then it's way more awesome because it's real life as opposed to a social network.

lolits funny when they say that, you should be like, pfft he's got the fakest locks around :Pbut don't worry when yours are a little older you're going to be getting completely different reactions from the same people,I had a guy come into work the other day with nice locks like little wayne, and he loved mine an wanted to touch an all that, and before my manager started to get annoyed we were just talking about them for awhile, whereas a few months before when i worked in a mall and my hair was a mangled mess all i ever got was, "oohh you gotta go get those fixed up!"

Yeah, I always tell them he has fake candle wax locks. LOLAlso, a lot of people assume dreads aren't dreads unless the ends are blunted.I think it's the waviness of my hair that makes it really messed up because some of them wrap around each other on the ends. So, sometimes I have to unhook a lot of them. Plus I have a lot of loops and that doesn't help either. Iain said:

yeah, I get that. I only have like one friend with dreads, and I never get to see him. I've been at it for something like 6 or 7 months, maybe 8, and they're still not matured yet. I always think it's not gonna work, but then I see someone with gorgeous dreads, and think "Wow, mine will be like that someday. I know it." And then seeing the people that are just starting them up, ya know, send on some encouragement to them :)
