starting dreads with dry damaged overprocessed brittle hair

if i had really dry damaged brittle hair when i let my dreads start forming naturally, about two months ago is there anything i should be concerned about happening to them? and should i be doing something to my dreads to make and or keep them healthy? i dont ever plan on getting rid of them and want them to be healthy and last forever. i had used neutrogena anti residue soap one time, and dr bronners twic in the past two months. i do wet it every day or two or i just look crazy from sleeping lol. any advice would be great:)

just don t do anything to further dry or damage it ut should dread fast once its well dreaded jojoba and/or aloe will help keep it healthy ..but give it time to dread good 1st
