Dread Questions

I began my dread journey on May 21, 2013. I did T&R, then let them be. I am learning much patience!! This is actually my second time dreading- the first time was a couple years ago and I used wax and the backcombing/hand rolling method, had them for about a year until I came across this forum and took them out. I'm very thankful for this site!

I wash every two to 3 days with baking soda and ACV or Dr Bronners. And I have a spray bottle of tea tree and peppermint oil in distilled water that I use as needed.

The top half of my head is dreading nicely, getting pretty tight and I've lost alot of length-I understand that is the process, but as far as the entire bottom portion- there are only two tiny dreads! The rest of my hair is not even tangly! Why is this?

Also, I just taught myself to crochet tams via You Tube, and I have some wool yarn on order. I do have 4 skeins of a silk/bamboo yarn and I was wondering if anyone knew if that would help dreads tighten as well?

Also, I was wondering which is better to help dreads lock- a tam or a headband?

if you mean around the haitrline that can take a long time to dread in fact you may always have undreaded hair there (but new dreads forming all the time) its just finer haur oilier hair hets disturbed more etc

and a tam would be best

the silk/bamboo wont have the same effect as wool if thats what your refering to

but will still make a nice comfy tam

If you were to section my head in two at the eyeballs, Top half and bottom half, the entire back and sides on the bottom half are not dreaded, minus two tiny ones. From the eyes up dreads are forming nicely.
