hey everybody :) i was just wondering if any of you know about this product (Rasul)? its a kind of soapy dirt or clay :) the reason why im asking is because i have never seen or heard of anybody els using it for their dreads, but as it is all natural dirt, with the same p.h as your skin i guess it cant get any more natural then that:)? (im using the natural method for my dreads)

what do you think of this product and have you tried it ?

is it any good for dreads?

Natural dirt? Why would you want to push dirt or clay into your dreads? Isn't that one reason we wash our hair...to keep the dirt out? Maybe I'm not understanding but it seems odd.

Wow, I am so glad somebody finally said something about this! I have wondered, since I happen to have had a LOT of problems with shampoos; tried many, many things, and have a nasty goo-buildup problem and am re-doing my dreads:( But to the point, that is the way animals keep their hair clean, is rub themselves all over dirt or sand, which soaks up the oils from their skin and hair, and the dirt kinda falls off. I have seriously wanted to try that! (I knew it would get laughed at, but hey, I've been at the end of my rope, washing new-ish dreads is a pain in the a__!) So, I have not heard of this product, but I will remind all who swear by dreadlocks shampoos, the bars all CONTAIN CLAY! That could be a good thing, could have been what got stuck in my hair, I don't know. My son had a lot of dreadie friends and said lots of them use dirt to wash their hair. He thought that's how you "have" to do it!

haha well when you put it that way i guess it does seem kinda odd :D i don't know that's why i started this thread, because there aren't much info about Rasul and dreadlocks out there, so i'm trying to find out if i'm doing this all wrong or if in fact there is something about the Rasul thing :)

One more thing: if you want more info, you might try the website of the makers of the shampoo. I'm interested too! Or look for reviews online.

interesting :) so actually there might be something about the rasul after all ;D well i haven't got that many dreads yet as I'm still only on 3,5 month but I do have two starting to form, and so far no dirt seem to be getting stuck in them :) but is it in fact good at forming and maintaining dreadlocks, i really don't know:D do you have any way of asking ur sons friends or something what they have been using and their experience with using soap dirt :)?

If they're forming and you're not having any problems, that's great. I'm not qualified to give advice (obviously, haha), but I will see if I can ask his friends what they did. Honestly knowing them I'm pretty sure they probably used actual dirt! Lol, but I'm serious. They traveled a lot, camping out, going to one music festival after another, and I tell you did NOT give one hoot how they looked or cleaned themselves, and were not ordering dread shampoos off the internet! One year, I saw them during the school year, not again til end of summer - DREADED!!! It was too funny (one of them is so big & tall, w/ his bushy head of dreads and size he looked like a real Mountain Man! I did not even recognize him, haha). I'll let you know if I find anything out - I know exactly how you feel, it's a bit rough. But I guess that's why they call it a Journey! Good luck to you!
