What happens to negleced African braids? Do they become dreads, eventually?

Yo minna!

^ We all know this hair style, African braids. I'm wondering what happens to a single African braid if you just neglect it. Will it become a dread, say, after a couple of months?

Does anyone know or even speak from experience?
Will it also shrink in length, like a normal dread would? Probalby not, because of its braided structure..right?

PS: what happens if you neglect larger / normal braids? What happens to them?

yes anything will dread but slower since it has to unbraid mostly 1st

look how unhealthy those are ..all way too tight
