"Do I separate after each wash? And do I wrap my loose hairs around the lock? I'm at a really frizzy phase at 10 months in. My hair grows outside of the lock."

"I know, you're absolutely right. But I counted my dreadlocks today and I have 200 I can't imaging maintaining them on my own. I'm seriously lost! I need help. "

leave it be separate as often as needed when you separate you get hairs outside the locks they get longer and grow into a lock or become a new 1..

people obsessed with no haor outside a lock end up  going bald between locks

they need NO MAINTENANCE other then seperating

and if you dont seperate that 200 can be 100 or 50

you chose congo bongo congo is when you let dreads join together

i had 200 at 1 point not as many as 6 are1

BUT i didnt stop separating till 18 yearsin

you should at least wait til mature

otherwise simply pulling them apart is all you should do

oh no you had them interlocked? NEVER repeat that mistake

each interlock points a snap point  35% weaker (minumum) then the rest of the dread, but also with all elasticity and shock absorption removed. so if its going to break it will snap at the roots at the interlock point

doing it repeatedly will only cause balding

its in the top 5 worse things you can do to dreads

beautiful hair but something that makes the roots 1/5th the thicknews of the rest of the dread  wont make thin dreads thick it will make thin dreads thinner

then the hair recedes, the scalpy gaps wide n and they get thinner still

the only ways to make thin dreads thicker is to combine them now theres 2 healthy ways 1  tragicly damaging way

1 stop separating them this is  called congoing when 2 dreads are not separated the roots intertwine and eventualy the dreads merge into 1 this results in 1 thicker root 2 times as thickj with 2 or more tails (i have 6 thin ones forming 1 thick 1 in a dozen places)

if you want the dread combined end to end wrap the 2 togethber with hemp embroidery thread  anything that keeps them together for a couple of months

the third way i will not mention cause its brutal but instant

but damaged

your hair looks BEAUTIUFUL i woish i could see the scalps condition though

simply stop the interlocking

separate the ones u want seperate .. dont seperate the ones you want joined

they take care of the rest themselves

hey you deleted  your comments but i got the gist of it you wer interlocking andbwant to transition

the simple answer isw just stop interlocking! however its highly likely the interlocking has caused thinning which requires attention (look in videos for 1 called traction alopecia help

also the interlock points are permenantly weaker

so just be aware of that

otherwise just enjoy the freedoim

if 2 dreads congo (grow together at the roots) simply pull them apart while wet
