Welcome. Unlike Barrellady, I won't recommend throwing the crochet hook away. That's a waste of a perfectly good few dollars. Instead learn to use it properly. Check out youtube, or get some books on how to make a scarf, tam, blanket, etc...
Crocheting can betherapeutic But your hair is just too weak to handle the pulling. All it does is rips your hair to shreds. Yarn, however, is much stronger. That is what a crochet hook was designed for.

she aint lying man. If you want to see proof browse this site. There are literally thousands of people on this site who have posts about how much they regret using a crochet hook. they have pictures. The recovery pictures will make you cringe man. You are trying to avoid frizz, but really you just create and hide a ton of frizz that has to come out at some point. unless you crochet forever.were not trying to knock your dreads. we just want the best for them. If you dont believe us look around this site. I read hundreds of stories before i decided i didnt want to crochet hook mine. However since i did buy the tool im thinking of taking it up as a hobby on cloth and wool
Welcome to the beginning of your journey. If you want long term dreads, throw away the crochet hook, yep, get up and throw that sucker right in the trash. That is the most damaging thing you can use and it breaks the hairs inside the dreads and they eventually fall off. You can learn about this by going to the dreaducation page at the top of the site. The backcombing will loosen, it needs to in order to form mature dreads, so when this happens, do not do anything to them, let them be and they will reward you with mature dreads in time. Did you toss out the hook yet..come on...get going.
Hi Danny. You were getting a build up on your scalp & the baking soda at proper strength is removing it. So maybe after your next wash, and rinse, soak you head in the tub for awhile and let any pieces float out, then rinse again when you are done. Once it all comes off the scalp you should be fine.
welco,e but crochet hooks are dread abuse
its just pure dread destruction
Ha ha, you got me there Baba Fats.
