I tried my own remedy twice already, this organic stuff called De-Solv It. It definitely liquified the wax, but I kept running out of hot water to rinse it out with, so some of it came out, but a lot of it seemed to rinse back through my dreads, especially staying near the roots. I think if I keep this set, I will wait for them to grow out enough so that I don't have to deal with the roots. *shrug* If I were to comb these out, I don't see how I'd have any hair left. I've had 3 sets with the same hair, with very little time in between. Never cut more than a few inches off in that time.
aww i'm sure your dreads are lovely and unique in their own special way, my advice to you is do whatever it takes to be completely happy with your dreads! even if that means going for a fourth set. have you tried SE's wax removal remedies?
I can understand that. This is my third set and I started them with wax and then crochet-maintained them. Icky all around. Now I'm not sure if I wanna comb any of them out and make them smaller or anything. I just keep comparing mine to other people's and getting frustrated.
They were extensions and i felt disconnected to them, no emotional attachment whatsoever. i found this site and was so inspired by all the people who went neglect and finally snapped and combed them out.
