Wow! They are some amazing fatties! I'd also be intrigued to know whether you allowed them to congo from the beginning.
Only around 4 months in myself so still very much in a sectioning phase with a little core hardening taking place. My hair is stupidly straight, thin & fine though so it doesn't seem to want to congo.
Have not need to perform any separation at all thus far, in fact I have the opposite problem of getting them to congo naturally

Hey Madison! Thank you. I let my dreads section and form naturally. I started out with really thick and long hair. It took a good year to a year and a half before my hair was locked. And still it took about another year for my loose ends to blunt. I think I could tell early on that they'd be fatties., just from the way they naturally sectioned.
