Welcome. Eagle's right. There's a forum that people who crocheted post in all the time about how crocheting damaged their locks. It's not something that works for some and not others. It destroys all locks. Doing it once won't destroy them. But it will delay progress. Doing a lot can cause them to snap off in places and even snap off at the root leaving a bald spot where a lock should have been
welcome but gotta tell ya crochets extremely bad for dreads it does severe damage and if used only one time to start delays progress by 6 months! if u use it alot as maintenance u just totalty destroy them and recovery can take well over a year
its a horibly abusive thing to do to dreads
but if u throw the hook away today they will recover
I have more of the issue of splitting of the dread after interlocking the new hair, BUT i found that every time I interlocked I had to go in a difrnt direction and would never redo the one's that were split too bad, I would wait for it to grow out A LOT than lock it to mend the split. I only have like 5 that are split now & their sister locks so they are gonna be tuff to fix, but the rest of my dreads are fine. Matter fact all the issue's i have as far as knotting, lumps, etc are with these sister locks. I've joined the most of them with others that were thin, but some just can't be fixed. HOPING this natural remedy helps them.
they arent noticable unless u look wat =y too close so ignore em if u must for a wedding or interview use a lil aloe vera straight from the plabnt as aloe druies and condituions it shrinks pulling the loose hairs insmooth
anything that maintains them causes them lo]=ike some use a crochet hook to pull them in..breaking more hairs wich pop back out
the best thing to do is wash often leave enm alone
you didnt need to start your dreads if u washed with the right shampoo in the right way it would have dreaded itself so ofcourse the roots will continue to dread themselves if left alone

Yeah when I say gaps I mean within the dread itself and they are hardly noticeable you just have to rub your finger down the dread to actually feel it. Also when I say "tame loose hairs" I mean like coming from the dread not the roots as I still don't understand how the roots will dread themselves but like is it possible to tame those loos hairs without harming hair? I am going for a natural look to my hair but still would like that salon look to them, is that possible?
well if they wrre recently interlocked and u can safely undo that u should but after only a few days thats probly not going to happen once the interlock is done theres no fixing it just let them grow out and get healthy from here on
the loose hairs dont need maintenance! they belong there your scalp should be covered with hair that protects it from the harmful rays of the sun and skin cancer as those grow they dread..all on their own either by joining an exo=isting dread or becomming a new dread
wheen u say gaps to be sure u mean in the dread itself not between them? the gaps between dreads will self correct unless they are too advanced then scalp massages biotin massaging certain oils into the scalp to stimulate bloodflow and get hair to start growing again
gaps in the dreads from the dread being pulled through a gap will either self heal slowly or be permenaht theres nothing much you can do about that
except stoppping the interlocking ofcourse

Thanks for the comment! I actually joined this site after repeatedly looking at posts but not getting the exact answer I was looking for and wanted to ask you personally. I have came to the conclusion to stop using the method after reading so many bad conplaints on it. My hair doesn't look bad at all it looks pretty nice for using the method but it does have a few gaps toward the ends on some that hasn't locked toward ends and some in various parts of my dreads but its not that bad meaning with a little help from you and this community it will be an easy fix. The question I was looking to be answered was, "How do I maintenance my hair now to fix the gaps and the y-shape gap I have?" Please answer in depth and my dreads aren't mature but some are pretty locked... I am looking for the method I should use to tame those loose hairs if any and where do I go from now to escape the interlocking method look and its common issues. Also I will try and upload some pics once I learn how and I have also only had my dreads retwisted / maintenanced about 5 or 6 times in the year I have had them, so thats probably why they dont look so bad and caught it before they did!
I interlock my dreads but I am going to stop doing that because of the long term effects. I have fine curly hair (like a bi-racial texture of hair) & I tried for like 4 yrs dfrnt ways to lock it and nothing worked for me besides interlocking, but now that their locked (about 18 in are locked for SURE) I'm going to start letting them grow natural & just seperate them as needed like my man S EAGLE suggested ANYWAY.....WELCOME!!!!
