The last time i've cut my hair was on November 2011, and started neglecting on June 2012, i take biotin daily, and even with biotin the dreads on the back of my hair continues to shrink like it will never stop...
What bothers me is the fact that i have to separate them EVERY MORNING and i still broke a lot of hair between the dreads when separating...
My hair is slow to form dreads, but to combine them wen formed ir is very fast, and even if i separate when wet, it is really annoying and i still broke hair between them...
Well i'll never give up the journey, but this is one of the downsides of neglecting the hair while short [when i started it was 3-4 inches, and today if it were combed it would reach the middle of my backs, i have one dread that its tip is just normal hair, and it reaches the middle of my back]
My dreads on the back of my hair have shrunk some to 2centimeters, and the longer dread measures 11cm there.
Well... i could do nothing aside of separating everyday and wait until it stops shrinking and grow.

Ah yeah, I didn't get much shrinkage compared to others, but it was annoying because I love long dreads and wanted them to grow, not shrink. But they've grown very long in just two years, so you'll get there too dreads teach you patience I think, and this is just another aspect you have to learn to be patient with and love it for part of the journey it's giving you.
share your shrinkage with me! i'm jelly, i know some of mine are shrinking, but it's few & far between because overall my hair still looks much longer than when i started, & it's the longest it's ever been! I'm ready for them to bunch up & go nuts for me. Mine are slow to dread but like yours once they are knotted they start to eat each other up, i only have a few sections that are doing it but it is quite annoying to have to separate those spots constantly, i couldn't imagine it being my whole head! i hope they settle down for you soon & you can separate less & that they start to grow grow GROW!!!
i have the same problem, lots of shrinking.... we must be patient!
