Welcome. So you stopped using wax. That's good. But like Eagle said, it's not enough. Wax is a hydrocarbon. It will NEVER wash out in normal soap and water. You need a detergent and at least a full month of scrubbing 2-3 times a week to even begin to get most of the wax out.
But that's not even the big issue I see. You stopped wax to replace it with something even more destructive. Yup, I said it. Crocheting is worse your your locks than wax. Wax can be scrubbed out. There is no "safe" way to crochet. Every pass of the hook rips your hairs into smaller and smaller pieces. This makes your locks extremely weak and prone to snapping in places.
Crochet hooks are not designed for human hair. They are designed for yarn/wool
Welcome to the community....Peace
welcome but your reall;y ruining your dreads stopping wax isnt enough its got to be agressivly removed and the crochet hook has to go in the trash thats just destroying them
its gou=ing to take over a year maybe 2 to recover from all u did start by getting wax be gone toss the hook in th e trash and let them recover
