This website and everyone talking. Make me feel bad for the choice I had made to backcomb my hair to begins dreads... Now I feel like I have done something really wrong. I have had two other sets that were back combed and they were gorgeous. So why am I know feeling GULITY with this new set... :(.

Thank you barrelady. At the time I was at the unsure moment. But since them and always right from the beginning I have let them do their natural thing. And they are the most beautiful unquie set I have had. They continue to change everyday and continue to surprise me with their many different shapes and sizes. :)

Never let words or comments make you feel guilty. Your hair, your dreads. You can still keep the dreads natural with the twist & rip or backcombing method. Keep them product free and let nature loosen, then loop & tighten them. Be Guilt Free and enjoy the journey again.

Exactly! Sometimes we need a jump start to whatever journey we're on. Sometimes we're on a journey and don't even realize it.

Aww. Really thanx guys! I guess I was just having one of those moments. I have never used and wax or anything like that. But I do say that for my second set of locks I did use DHHQ shampoo. Never had a problem. That set lasted a Lil over a year and they were beautiful. But I wasn't strong enough to stand up to my family. And found myself cuttin them out. So now six year later I have begun this set. And this is me. With my locks! And no one can tell me different. I guess I just got a little saddened when I seem how beautiful everyone's neglect locks turned out and how that's what everyone talks about. But I am glad and happy about my journey. That's why it's called a journey right!?

I felt the same way. But I feel better knowing they are falling apart and comig back together on their own. :) by me not touchig them. Everytime i want to fix something i tell myself thats not gonna help it is just gonna be a step bakwards :) that stops me. My babies are doing great! Yours are too.

Aw don't feel that way! But I do understand where you're coming from. I backcombed my entire head. I had fallen prey partly to the whole knotty boy/dhheadhq philosophy that dreads had to be made. It was a few days AFTER I had them backcombed that I stumbled here and thankfully never bought the wax and shit to finish them off. I've had a total love/hate relationship with my hair since then...but right now I'm absolutely in love with my locks. Even with so many new people here neglecting and so many people at the year mark like me that went total neglect I'm a bit jealous of their craziness...I've had moments in the grocery store where I almost bought the biggest jug of olive oil I could afford to use to comb them out and start over. Very short lived moments! All it took was a quick run of my fingers thru my dreads to feel how much they've grown and matured. I'm not combing these suckers out for nothin!

Back to the point...this is about you not me lol You have beautiful hair and it's YOURS. Don't feel guilty about backcombing...We all end up with the same (haha) unique end result. Gorgeous locks that are yours and only yours!

which you should be. But try not o obsess. Then you view yourself as the girl with locks, instead of how you should see yourself: as yourself, who happens to have locks
