welcome but both palm rolling and crochet are very bad for dreads but crochet far far far worse 1 of the worse things u can ever do and now it will take 6 months to over a year to recover (depending how much youve used it)
dreads should be washed and seperated only nothing else
Welcome to the community cecillia. Glad you joined us. Just letting you know that if you want your dreads to last for many years or a lifetime, then you should not use a crochet hook anymore as they get broken hairs all inside, thus loosing their strength when they get longer. If you do decide to stop, it will take about 6 months for your dreads to recover, broken hairs will poke out during that time, but will eventually get sucked back into the dread. If you want them for just a short few years, then have fun with them. Palm rolling also causes weak spots in dreads, here is a post by another member on what happened to his: http://www.dreadlockssite.com/video/why-not-to-palm-roll
Salt water is good to use for locking up dreads, just make sure to rinse it out by the two hour mark or it can dry out your dreads. To make them soft feeling, at the end of your shower, , mix 1-2 capfuls of apple cider vinegar with 5 cups of water & pour over head, rinse out within one minute. This makes dreads nice a soft feeling, a safe conditioner.......peace
Welcome to the community yesha. What are you using to wash your natural dreads with? This map will tell you if you have hard or soft water, which will make a difference what to use.....peace
