Hi Byron, welcome to the community. How long have you been dreading? 1 year, 1 month? You sure came to the right site to learn all about the healthy ways to maintain dreadlocks and be able to grow them for life if you want. Not sure how you started, but I hope all is going well. Enjoy the site...peace
welcome i saw yoir chat message most importantly take all tension off the roots i assume u were twisting, crocheting or interlocking? well..stop
stop tying them up m tight or braiding or pulling them back
if they are very long and heavy wear em up loosely in a loose tam to take the weight off
next massage the scalp with oils like pepermint theres others i cant think of but thers a featured discussion that panterra gave jay simmons a list of oils to use u need to restore bloodflow
post pictures and a discussion so we cqn see how progrese it is also in it explain every thing u doid or had done by a salon
u see the scalp between dreads/ yea salons call that tidy but its the early signs of a medical condition the scalp should be covered by hair
the styles are fu]ine as long as they arent tight and not left in long periods you know how ppl with corn rows left in for months can get that bald zig zag pattern the too tight styles pulling on the roots is what causes the harm the roots shouldnt be tightened beyond where they want to tighten naturaly
at 1st they will be quit loose but they will tighten themselves up as they mature
