What gel are you using? Most gels on the market, even ones supposedly marketed for locks are actually really bad for them. They leave tons of residues and cause buildup and damage

Not sure where you are located, but below is a map of the states so you can see your water type, as that plays a big roll in what we use to wash our dreads with without getting residue build up. With soft water, any dread shampoo or bar will work, but with hard water, it is a totally different result. If you need a map for another country, just let me know....peace
