Welcome. Eagle's right. Wax actually stops locking from happening. It sticks your hair together but keeps it suck in place where no knots form. Because no looping happens, they don't progress past the first day the wax was put in. It hardens and gives the impression that they are maturing, but there is no way to speed up the process
Welcome, I'll be nice and let the other guys tell you about how damaging Dread wax is and Happy Dreading.

Like i stated all of what i did was how i started my dreads, at the time sectionig out my dreads with rubber bands was a safer choice then beeswax so i looked at it as a residue free wax free temporary hold the bands only stayed in the first 2 weeks ,the saltwater spray i used for the first few months was 1 cup water 2 tablespoons of sea salt an half a lemon squeezed, so the lemon wasnt very powerful more for smell really but then i soon learned about essential oils , the palm rolling i know many have their opinion about it but i can say right now that palm rolling for me has worked absolute wonders , i do not want lumpy dreads and bc of palm rolling i never have had one , i dont twist my dread so tight while rolling i risk any damage at root bc i roll from tips up, i will continue to palm roll bc i need to look professional every day and cant risk lumpy messy dreads all over the place while im working so close to customers in their own homes, its not a good look, and def not my style, the way i feel over all is the way i started my dreads was much more clean, and safe, then many other horror stories with bees wax , toothpaste, grape cool aid, or fake Internet scam products, etc. i no longer use bands or combs , or sprays, its been right around 18 months chem free, just essential oils and ocean swimming, but the palm roll stays for me. It's just what works. Hope that clears up some of my profile info.
