Forgot to mention. Water type plays a big roll in what we wash with. If you have soft water, any dread shampoo or bar will work, but if you have hard water, many of those same products will not work the same. If you need a fantastic dread shampoo or bar for hard water, the best ones out there are from www.dreadlockshampoo.com . We all swear by it.....peace
Welcome Brennon to the community and to your second journey. Back combed dreads are the blueprints to your future mature dreads. They will loosen up, so please don't retighten them. They need to do their think in order to lock up. As Soaring Eagle said, the more you wash, the faster they dread. Why is that? Well, first off if hair or scalp gets oily, that runs down into the hair and loosens any knotting process. Also, hair moves around when it gets washed and changes shape, you know how some peoples hair is wavy or curly when wet, so the hairs move around, this also helps with the dreading process. When it rain out, I embrace it and let the rain run through my dreads!
So this time around you want your dreads to work. No re-backcombing, let them do their thing. Just wash 2-3 times a week, make sure none of those sections are trying to join onto each other, and sit back and enjoy the ride, the wild ride to healthy mature dreadlocks.........peace
