Welcome to the community Brandon, you sure came to the right site to learn how to grow your own dreads without waxes and stuff. So you are waiting for your hair to grow, you can learn plenty by then. There is a product called Biotin that promotes hair growth, results in 3 months. You can find it in the vitamin section of drug stores and department store for under 10 bucks. Take 6000mcg daily, if you can't find that strength, just add up tablets to equal it. This will help you get a jump start

Good luck with your journey, ask any questions...peace

Welcome. The best and healthiest way to lock any hair type is the neglect method. Just wash 1-3 times a week with a dreadlock-friendly soap. And through out your combs/brushes.

But not everyone is ready for the neglect method. And that's ok. I sure wasn't. The TnR method is the next most gentle method to start locks. After that is back combing. However, both of these methods are only ways to create a general blueprint of where you want your locks to be. They don't create locks in and of themselves.

Read through the dreaducation page first. Then take a look through the timeline forums to see what the coming weeks/months will look like

Welcome. The ends of baby locks need to be loose for a while. Most of the time they will stay loose. And that's a good thing. If they start to blunt, that increases your drying time, and increases your chances of growing mold. Baby locks should have between 1-3 inches of straight hair at the roots and tips

Welcome to the community WC-baby-dreads & fellow Canuck and to your new journey. I sent you this post to read: (Dead URL) http://www.dreadlockssite.com/forum/topics/just-starting-out-what-to-expect/a> All about the stages for your twist & rip dreads. And yep, don't re-twist, they need to loosen up in order to become mature dreads. They will change dramatically over the next year. Every time you re tighten them, you set back your journey. They will loosen, loop, shrink to become the thickness of where the section of hair meets the scalp. So they won't be the same thickness in the length as what you see now.

Here is a map for your water type. Hard water makes most dread shampoos to leave a slight build up in dreads. If you need help with this, just ask us. Soft water you can use just about any dread shampoo or bar. Enjoy your journey to dreadlocks....peace
