That's what I like About Ender's Game. Even in the first book, the characters ared deep and well developed. And throughout the rest of the series they just go into even greater depth
I liked the sweep of Tolkien's LOTR, but found his characters too one-dimensional cutesy-folkesy, even the 'baddies.' Pity. It could've been a great epic.
So more Edward Gorey style? but not just illustrations
lol. I can dig that. I have to be in the right mindset to read something that is slow moving thoug. As slow as I am, most books I read catch you right away and drag you in. That's why I never got into Tolkien
I just read some of his poetry. I like it
More like dark fantasy. Slow moving plot, though rich in description and unforgettable characters. These books will haunt you!
Haven't heard of him. I'll check it out. Dark fiction like King or Koontz?
Are you familiar with the 'Gormenghast" Trilogy by Mervyn Peake? Superb dark fiction in a genre all of its own.
