Welcome to DLS, and SE is right natural or tnr is way more healthier to use than backcomb. I started mine with underneath hair with tnr and letting the rest go natural. Happy dreading.
Welcome. Eagle's right. If you are looking for a starter method, TnR is healthier than back combing. People have had great results with back combing, but it does more damage, and it's easier to mess up your sections and end up with sections that pull funny and hurt your scalp
