Welcome to the community Andres. Start off by reading the Dreaducation section at the top of the site. I agree, with your hair I would go neglect all the way. What ever method you decide on, please let your hair section all on its own first without forcing it into sections. That way, while you are learning everything about dreads, you will make the best decision for you and your hair.....peace

Welcome. Eagle's right. Natural, while always the healthiest option anyway, would be absolutely perfect for your hair

Welcome. Unfortunately, just using plain water isn't going to be enough to actually clean your hair. it will get some of the dirt and dust out of it. But inorder to do a real thorough cleaning, you'll want to use something else, like a soap or baking soda. BS is great if you have softer water. It is natural and you don't have to worry about scrubbing your scalp. Just mix 1/2 cup BS in with 5 cups of water. Mix it so it's fully dissolved and pour it on. Let this mixture sit for about 10-20 minutes. Then rinse it off really well. SInce BS is a base, it will have raised your scalp and hairs pH to a slightly unhealthy level. In order to balance this pH, mix 1 capful of apple cider vinegar in 5 cups of water. Pour this on and rinse it off right away. Now you're good to go. let your hair air dry as much as possible.

If you want to try a great natural soap, look into dreadlockshampoo.com. They are a small (local to me) business that only uses high quality, natural products (local if possible). This soap is designed to work in both hard and soft water
