alot has to do with method tighteness stiffnes hair length etc etc

but a couple washings usualy does it as long as no wax or anything was used

Welcome. Kelly's right about crocheting. It does nothing for locks except breaking hairs into smaller and smaller pieces. This makes your locks weaker and weaker. It also delay's locking by up to 6 months

Welcome to the community. Definitely stop the crochet. It is the worst thing you can do to them. It breaks hairs and makes them much too tight and stiff. There are accounts of dreads breaking off from the process. Let your dreads recover. Dont mind if they get frizzy. This is normal.
