thought i would share my results after 3 applications of this lemon, honey, and chamomile mixture that i made. i didnt want to bleach my hair because i dont know much about bleaching so i gave this a shot, and so far the results are pretty good. i tried to get the lighting as close as possible to the first picture when i took the second one. let me know if you have questions!
Looking forward to trying this; I feel like my locs are waaay too dark, and bleach is so bad! Thank you for posting this!
Thank you so much for this!
wow I'm definitely going to try this! I've been looking for ways to make my hair lighter. Looks great!
that's really neat. my hair's probably about as dark as yours in the first picture. i like how warm and sunny it looks after you lightened it. i might try this =)
maybe....one tablespoon? maybe less. didnt really measure. just be careful if you use this because apparently lemon juice can weaken your hair if you use it a lot. so don't soak your hair in it and dont leave it in for a super long time. and maybe wait a little in between applications.
Alrighty how much sea salt did you put in the mix well when you did idk haha
no not really, only when i have it in. once i wash it out my hair is the same. i think lemon juice alone dries out the hair, but with it being mostly water and some honey your hair doesnt dry out. honey is actually used as a conditioner i think.
Did it make your hair dry?
so the recipe...i boiled 4 cups (32 oz)of water and then steeped two chamomile tea bags in that. then i added the juice of two lemons, and i really squeezed all of the juice out of those. finally i mixed in about 2 heaping tablespoons of honey and made sure it dissolved completely. i let the mixture chill and then poured it into a spray bottle. i also added a little bit of sea salt just so i could kill two birds with one stone. i spray my hair either before a shower and blow dry it, then wash it off about two hours later, or ill spray a little bit before i go out for the day (to school). it feels like gel once it dries in your hair...making it kind of dry and crunchy...but this could actually be an advantage for keeping your flyaways down.
@erica
it might work for lightening your dye. i used henna about three weeks before i used this, and i could actually see some of the henna come out when i rinsed my hair. i mean, i dont know if that's from the mixture or because i didnt rinse the henna out completely before, but it's worth a shot. also, from what i gathered from info online it seems that all of those ingredients break down melanin, the stuff that makes hair dark....if that helps you at all.
good luck!
do you think this would work for someone who has black hair dye in their hair? i dont want to bleach my hair but i also dont want to let it grow out ugly... lol, my natural hair color is a medium brown.i want that color back.
