shea butters fine for african hairwax though is waterproof never washes out and traps dirt it also hardens so prevents movement needed to fread u never want anything that holds dreads together they need to move u obnly want moisturizers for african hair so jojoba oil aloe vera (only aloe no other ingredients at all) shae butter maybe even olive oil (not the best but a cheap alternative if u run out of jojoba)or africas best hair oils
