@Tim: Mine says Tingle Shampoo on the bottle and it's a green shampoo. I love how it works on my hair, I guess it works great on my hair because my hair curls and tangles a lot. My hair is very thick as well. I heard Doctor Bonners(Or however you spell it) is good and seems to work for a lot of people.

@soaring eagle: thanks for the welcome, and trust me the last thing I am going to do is retwist! Well as of today I will not be wearing my Du-rag anymore thanks for the pointing that out. My first set was comb twisted with wax and I came to find out that that was a big N.O. I went to get it washed and re-twisted by a different loctician and the wax expanded in my hair and left white clumps here and there in my hair. I got that set combed and washed out and started my second comb twisted set with gels. I couldn't get it re-twisted like my loctician prompted, but little did I know I didn't have to get my hair re-twisted every 3-4 weeks like she said. I also found out I could wash my hair as much as I wanted as that helps with locking. Out of frustration I combed and washed my 2nd set out and started to Free Form. My family hated that I was Free Forming and I had money so I washed and combed out my dreads once again. My loctician told me I should have continued to Free Form as this was the way dreads were supposed to be. After I got my hair twisted I thought about it and then I just decided to wash my hair without combing it out and now my hair is back to it's old self haha. I plan on Free Forming for the rest of my life.

  • I used jamaican mango and lime (is that Tingle Shampoo?)when I had mature dreads, I really liked it. Just my opinion, butI foundwith straight hair (not yet knotted) it felt like it was conditioning, so I stopped using it.

Welcome. But if you don't mind standing out and making waves, there's no reason to wait and do it bit by bit. If you let them happen naturally, they will happen gradually, and your family will have more time to accept the change
