Welcome to the community my fellow Canuck, I can wave to you across the Lake! Start off by reading the dreaducation section at the top of the site for great info on methods etc. Do you know how you were planning to start?
Don' brush or finger brush your hair anymore. In a couple of weeks it will separate into sections. If you decide to use a started method, like twist & rip, then use those formed sections to do them. I have some great tips here: http://www.dreadlockssite.com/forum/topics/just-starting-out-what-to-expect
Wash 2-3 times a week with a dread friendly shampoo. You have hard water in T.O. so you have a limited choice for dread products, as many don't work properly in hard water. You can use this method: http://www.dreadlockssite.com/forum/topics/ratios-baking-soda-wash-apple-cider-vinegar-rinse-sea-salt-mix
or you can use products from www.dreadlockshampoo.com which work fantastic in hard water, all types in fact. If you have any questions, feel free to ask us.....peace
Welcome to the community Devin and to your 4 month journey. Hope you are enjoying all the funky changes to your hair. Enjoy the site and all the cool people on here...peace
