oh wow! that is quite a bit of shrinkage! i'm interested to see how much mine shrinks with time..your dreads are beautiful already though, and they are just going to continue to grow and change...=]
I agree with the hard water probably being an issue. When we lived in Florida we had very hard water and it left residue on everything. Now we live in Boston and it's pretty soft. We don't have that problem anymore. I think I will still do the anti-residue every now and then to be on the safe side. Yep, worrying about shrinking is over for me. I just want to see it locking up and getting thicker so I know I have real dreads ; ) I like them the way they are now in the early stage, and with my spiral curls, my baby dreads are spiral too. I had to get over the fact that I won't have straight dreads either. I looked on this website for so long before I actually made the decision and I saw mostly straight dreads. For some reason I thought the curls wouldn't make the dreads curly. I was wrong ; ) I enjoyed looking at your timelines. Thank you for posting them! Have a great week!
I used the Bronners bar. I also have hard water so thats the real issue. But yeah, I am actually enjoying the shrinking. My hair has been past my butt for like 5 years...it is a REALLY NICE break! And hair grows back anyway...I'm not in any rush, just enjoying the journey!
Thank you for letting me know about Dr. Bronners. Did you dilute it alot? I use the tea tree and only put a few drops, then add a cup of water and rinse real well after. I thought about adding the anti-residue which was what I used right before I started dreading. I was thinking once a month, just in case of build-up. Anyway, I love your dreads and it makes me realize that the length sure isn't everything! : )
Thanks ladies!! I read on here somewhere that the longer it is the more it shrinks. Had I known that 3 years ago...I wouldn't have kept growing my hair out lol! I am also REALLY digging the fact that they have fattened up. At first I wanted thin ones, now I've changed my mind!
Yes, I have used Dr. Bronners throughout most of my journey. I just recently noticed a white build up..which totally skeeved me out! So I've been using the Neutrogena anti residue once a week. My hair did shrink a lot after washing with Bronners, but I think it's shrunk even more using the anti residue. And I feel much more clean now too!
I just know mine are going to do the same thing. They are shrinking alot and its only been a little less than 3 weeks, and my ends are getting thinner and thinner. I have heard that the longer your hair is the more it shrinks. I have to say though, your dreads look really good and I like all the different lengths. You can also see how much thicker it looks when you look at the top of your head compared to the first pic too. Did you use Dr. Bronners? Did you find that after you washed it, it would shrink up more? That's what mine does everytime I wash. I do love the way they look!!!
Thanks everyone!! I absolutely love them...its is truly an amazing journey! <3
