I will more than likely face the same issues in America as I finish law school. I'm the only one with dreadlocks in this school, but in other schools further south, there are about 1 in 40 that have been dreaded for 4 or more years. The one thing that we all talk about is the fact that our spirituality and our heritage makes having dreadlocks worthwhile. I have found that luckily, as much as I know my career can be at stake, I don't plan on being in a traditional legal setting, so hopefully I won't have to deal with the same amount of hostility that corporate America has towards people like us.Let's face it, I'm an African-Japanese American that is short, and one in a million multi-ethnic males that even will HAVE a law degree. Dreaded or not, I'm going to "stick out". so if they don't want the idea of someone being dreaded, maybe that's not the place for me... or you.
