Yes it was, thank you so much! I think I will go and get some aloe conditioner as well and use that with the jojoba oil

Hello my good sir! I hope this message finds you well. Here I am with yet another question: would a leave-in scalp "conditioner" be ok to use? I have a dry and itchy scalp that gets worse in the winter. I was thinking of something like rosemary and tea tree in a bottle of water that I could spray on my scalp and let dry, hence the "leave-in conditioner."

Shauna85
10/29/17 10:03:56PM @shauna85:
Yes, just the bar soap.
I go every 6 months to have them "cleaned up". They loose crazy hairs get crocheted back into the more mature dreads.

Oh, not MY shop. It's a little shop I go to a few hours away. Sorry if it was misleading.

Hey there, another question about wearing the headband to hide messy & frizzy immature dreads: when I wear it how long is too long? Like anywhere from 45 min to three or four hours every day is what I'm doing down. Should I cut back?

Also, my dreads are laying from the middle of my head and growing towards the side of my head. I'd like if they grew upwards first, then gravity would make them lay towards the side. Anything I can do about that or would mature dreads eventually end up looking just fine?

And as always, thanks for your help!

Okie dokie. As always, thanks for the help. I almost think I know all about dreads then I get a ton of new questions. C'est la vie. Wink

Hello again my good sir. I have yet another question about my TNR. I've done all the TNR and removed the rubber bands. I was wondering if any sections that are TNR but still have maybe 1/2 to 1 inch space between it and my scalp if that would cause problems as my hair grows? In other words, will it dread as my hair grows or does the TNR really need to be at the scalp for it to actually work?

Kaensada
09/12/17 12:29:32AM @kaensada:

Thank you much for the welcome, Sir! I'm prepping (mostly mentally) for my Dread Journey at the moment and am so happy I found your site! I've found that with a little browsing and searching your guides I've had most of my questions about what is to come and the best ways to take care of my (upcoming) baby 'locs have already been answered!

However, I would love to pick your brain on just one thing.... I have a shit-ton of thin hair and would like to aim for relatively thin dreads (as best as my hair will cooperate, of course!) What size sectioning would you recommend?

ColeCamden
09/07/17 02:14:30PM @colecamden:

Thank you, SE! I've heard so much about you! I'm so excited to join.

But yes, I agreed to let her backcomb the back of my head as I couldn't quite reach with my high-back wheelchair in the way.

"This feels....rippy."

Then I see the hook. I wasn't too pleased as she claimed she was ALL-NATURAL and crochet doesn't seem natural to me.

"Oh, this is just smoothing the backcombing out!"

Annoyingly, I obviously couldn't get up and walk away so I let it happen. OUCH.

Moppusan
08/30/17 10:30:16PM @moppusan:

Oh yeah, the rubber bands are only temporary for sectioning hair. And the headband is only tight enough to just stay in place, and I only wear it if I go somewhere. I'm just trying to give my dreads a bit of a kick-start and then let my hair do its own thing afterwards.

As always, thanks for the info! Wink
